Following the Flora: A Design Journey from the Sharr Mountains to the Kazdağı Mountains

This exhibition brings together the products of an international and interdisciplinary art project inspired by the endemic plants of the Kazdağı Mountains in Çanakkale and the Sharr Mountains in Kosovo. Students from the Textile Pattern Design course of Assoc. Prof. Berna İleri and the Tile Pattern Design course of Asst. Prof. Zeynep Arol from the Traditional Turkish Arts Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, along with students from the Painting, Graphics, Ceramics and Printmaking Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kosovska Mitrovica, University of Pristina, have reinterpreted the plant richness of two different geographies through the language of art.

Within the scope of the project, students from the Traditional Turkish Arts Department produced tile and textile designs inspired by the endemic plants unique to the Sharr Mountains of Kosovo, while Kosovar students interpreted the endemic plants of the Kazdağları Mountains through paintings, graphics, ceramics and printmaking works.

The studies were conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berna İleri and Asst. Prof. Zeynep Arol from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, and Prof. Ester Milentijevic, Prof. Dr. Suzana Vučković, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevena Popovic, Lecturer Anđela Jordanović Vujović, Prof. Nebojša Milošević, Teaching Assistant Branka Lalić, Lecturer Branislav Ristić, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamara Pešić, Asst. Prof. Anđela Mujčić, and Asst. Prof. Nataša Gvozdović Matović from the University of Pristina.

This exhibition, which brings together natural and cultural heritage through art, shares the collaborative production experiences of young artists from different disciplines and the creative dialogue established between the two countries with the audience.
