“Local and Traditional Elements in Fashion Design: Ballerina's Hidden Dream and Is It Identical?” Presentation as Part of “Career: Designing the Future”

A presentation titled “Local and Traditional Elements in Fashion Design: Ballerina's Hidden Dream and Is It Identical?” was held for the students of the Traditional Turkish Arts Department and the Textile and Fashion Design Department. Delivered by fashion designer Başak Cankeş, the presentation explored the use of traditional and local elements in fashion design through two collections by the designer.

In the Ballerina's Hidden Dream collection, Başak Cankeş showcased the transformation of Can Gökçe’s ceramic designs into a clothing collection inspired by the theme of ballerinas and provided insights into the related fashion shoots. The Is It Identical? collection highlighted garments created by combining the weaving and embroidery traditions of the Peruvian indigenous people with those of Anatolia.

Students from both departments attended the presentation together. We extend our thanks to Başak Cankeş for her inspiring presentation.
