Asst. Prof. İrem Pala represented the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, at the 1st National "In the Footsteps of Tradition" Traditional Turkish Arts Symposium & Exhibition and Department Heads Meeting. The event, held on April 25-26, 2024, was organized by the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts at Selçuk University's Faculty of Fine Arts with the support of Konya Selçuklu Municipality and was dedicated to the late calligrapher Prof. Dr. Fevzi GÜNÜÇ. The exhibition also featured a work by Assoc. Prof. Berna İleri from our department.

In the "department heads meeting," which focused on the operations of Traditional Turkish Arts departments, Asst. Prof. İrem Pala attended as an invited representative of our department, along with representatives from 28 universities actively providing education in this field. These included Afyon Kocatepe, Akdeniz, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli, Atatürk, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal, Bursa Uludağ, Dokuz Eylül, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf, Hacı Bayram, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey, Kırşehir Ahi Evran, Kocaeli, KTO Karatay, Marmara, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts, Necmettin Erbakan, Sakarya, Selçuk, Süleyman Demirel, and Uşak Universities. Contributions from department heads and representatives, as well as field pioneers who have previously held administrative roles, were evaluated.

In the first session of the symposium, where Asst. Prof. İrem Pala presented her paper titled "Notes on the Scope of the Tile Field in Traditional Turkish Arts Departments of Fine Arts Faculties," attendees had the opportunity to follow the experiences shared by prominent figures in the field, including:

- Prof. Dr. F. Çiçek Derman: "Illuminator Muhsin Demironat"
- Prof. Dr. Şerife Atlıhan: "The Tradition of Kilim in Anatolia and Its Current Status"

- Dr. Hüseyin Öksüz: "The Art of Calligraphy and Konya"
- Dr. İnci A. Birol: "The Meeting of Tradition and Art"
